Savithri vacated her own house at Hosur and shifted to a new, more spacious, rented house on 27 November 2014. Vijaya and I went to Hosur to help Savithri in arranging the new house and allied works. Read here about the new house and photos. During the late 2015 and early 2016, Savithri fell ill and had to be treated at Chennai; so she shifted to Chennai by Nov 2015. The house was just locked up, unused. By March - April 2016, she decided that she will not be returning to Hosur, taking her health conditions. She decided to vacate the house. She and Ramesh went to Hosur on 1st May 2016 and vacated the house. Disposed / discarded some items, took away some items to Chennai. Final shifting on Tuesday, the 3rd May 2016. She lived in this house from 27-11-2014. A good and comfortable house. Rajappa 6-5-2016

Savithri shifted house on Thursday, the 27th of November, 2014. She requested us to come to Hosur for help. We went to Bangalore on 24th Nov and from there to Hosur on 26th morning. We two, particularly Vijaya, helped her in packing and other things. On 27th, we shifted to the new house by 8AM  and had Milk boiling. Our breakfast was at the new house. A two BHK, dining area, two bath rooms with Western style WCs, two balconies, well-lit and well-ventilated, two lifts. 3rd floor. T8A, on the Avalapalli road. Vijaya and Savithri worked tirelessly in arranging the house. Ramesh who had reached Hosur on 27th Nov, left for Chennai on 29th night, and we returned to Bangalore in Ashok's car on Sunday 30th Nov A good house. Rajappa 2-12-2014

Our Bangalore visit May 2013. Ever since Savithri informed us that she would be celebrating her 70th birthday at Hosur, we had determined that we would go there. And then she informed that she is having RUDRAM at her house by 15 Veda Vidwans on 12th May and she asked us to come without fail. We agreed and started planning. Initially we thought of travelling via Salem and so i booked our tickets to Salem for 2nd May and from Salem to Bangalore on 3rd May. From SBC to Chennai, I booked by the 0800 AM train of 15th May. But, after i booked these tickets, Arvind told me suddenly to take ADITI also to SBC for a week; he would come to SBC and bring her back. So our rescheduling started;  I cancelled the Salem tickets and booked three tickets by Shatabdi (6 PM) express for 27th April. Then, the Railways announced on April 23 that the new Double Decker AC express would commence from 25th Apr to Bangalore. I was eagerly awaiting for this Double Decker train, so I cancelled...

Earlier i wrote about the SitaRama Anjaneya Koil at Pathakota, 17 km from Hosur, on the banks of Pennaiyaru. We two and Savithri went there on 17th Jan 2013 (read here). After I came to Bangalore,  I told about this koil to Ashok and Neeraja and they too were keen to have the darshan of Rama and Anjaneya. On 26 Jan 2013, Ashok asked me suddenly at 4-40 PM if we can go there that time. I consulted Savithri over phone and she said yes. We four left house at 5-15 in car, went to Hosur. Savithri was waiting near GRT and joined us. We reached the temple by 6.40 PM. First we went to the full-flowing Pennaiyaru and lost ourselves in the serenity and beauty of the river. The scenic beauty oof the river is breath-taking. 15 minutes later we entered the temple. Built in 1932 for Sri Anjaneya only, this temple now has Sri Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana idols installed. Hope you read the Part 1. If not, read here . Now, Part 2. PART 2. 13 Jan 2013 - Sunday - BHOGI We invited Savithri from Hosur to join us for the festivals. She came here today by 12:30 noon. We performed the Poojai after she came. Then I offered her our Pongal seer. Evening we five left for Reliance Digital in search of a CD player for Savithri. We did not get one to our liking, so we came back to Meenakshi Mall CROMA shop and purchased a Philips CD player (MP3, MP4, FM radio) USB input also. Ashok purchased a Panasonic Phone. What a huge shop! 14 Jan 2013 - Monday - PONGAL Neeraja kept the Pongal Paanai at the auspicious time. Then we went to the terrace and performed the Poojai there. Karumbu and Manjal were available at Jayanagar. Ashok performed the Poojai. Neeraja prepared Sakkarai Pongal, Ven Pongal, Vadai etc. We had along discussion with Rama at Hyd re Sashti apthapoorthy for Sathyamurthy. At Chennai also Pongal was nicely celebrated at Padur and Kalakshetra Avenue...

Earlier this year, we went to bangalore during 25 March -31 March 2010, for the Satyanarayana Poojai that Ashok-Neeraja performed on 29th March. Now, we left Chennai on 19 Nov by the 1-35PM train for Bangalore. Ashok received us at Cantonment station at 8 PM. Karthikai Deepam was celebrated on 21 Nov, with appam, and two different Poris. HOSUR :: On 23rd (Tue) morning at 7-30 AM we went to Hosur to attend the Poojai performed by Savithri ( full details here) . We were in Hosur for 2 days and returned to Bangalore on 25th by 1130 AM. GET-TOGETHER :: There was a get-together on Saturday the 27th at Ashok's house. Lalita, Kumar, Janani, Pradyun, Ranjani, her child Sahasra, Anand, Aishwarya, child Aditya came. Ashok brought Bise bele bath, Vangi bath, Carrot halwa, beans curry from Namma Ura and Neeraja prepared white rice, Rasam, aloo curry. It was a great occasion. Last time we went to Hosur was on 14 Feb 2010 (read here) , that was the occasion of Naarayaniiyam. Now we went there on Tuesday, 23 Nov 2010. We left Ashok's house at Bangalore by 07-30 and reached Savithri's house by 08-40. Savithri was performing a poojai in general. Added to it, that day (23 Nov) was the birthday of Puttabarthi Sri SaiBaba. She had made an elaborate arrangement with floral decoration etc. She had purchased a large quantity of fresh flowers and lots of Thulasi(for Rs 850 and above).  About 30-35 persons were expected and Savithri had prepared 108 milagu vadais (anjaneyar vadais) and 93 laddus two days before. Today she got up early and prepared Sakkarai Pongal and Sundal for the devotees. Poojai started by 10-15 and ended at 12-45. Vishnu sahasranamam paaraayanam, Gita 12th chapter, Hanuman Chalisa, Sri Rama bhajan, Baba bhajan, Govindan Bhajani were all chanted. It was great. The last time we visited Bangalore was in Feb-March 2009. After that, we couldn't come to Bangalore for different reasons. This year, Vijaya and I started for Bangalore on 30 Jan 2010, alongwith Ashok - Neeraja. We travelled by Lal Bagh Express (3-35PM) and reached Ashok's home by 1030PM. We had brought Puliyodhrai and Thayir saadam for dinner and we ate in the train at 8-30PM. Bangalore was chill and cold and I had to use woolen kambili while sleeping. 4th February is the marriage day of Ashok- Neeraja and they took us to a newly opened restaurent - MAAKHAN BHOG - on the Bannerghatta Road for dinner. We had soup, Babycorn roast, Pasta preparations (two varieties, I can't pronounce the italian names), Tandoori Roti, Baingan Burtha, and Dhal Tadkewali. And soft drinks. Very tasty enjoyable. During our stay at Bangalore, we went to Anand's house at Halasuru (Ulsoor), Savithri's house at Hosur, and Janani's house at Whitefield. We also visited SPAR, Big Bazaa...

Vijaya and I went to HOSUR on Sunday, 14th Feb 2010 . Our earlier visit was in August 2008 . Ashok and Neeraja and we two left Bangalore in Ashok's car by 4PM and we travelled via Kammanahalli Road and then the new highway. The roads are very wide and smooth. We reached Savithri's house by 4-50 itself. She gave us tasty Uppu Appams to eat. After an hour A - N left. Savithri had recently been to Guruvayur for the Naaraayaniyam Poojai . She and two of her friend-mamis left Hosur by the Inter-City Express on 10th Feb 2010 morning, reaching Guruvayur by 7PM. Next day was the Poojai. Savithri has hand-written the entire Naaraayaniyam (in Tamil) and the meaning of each sloka in Tamil. The notebook, A4 size, runs to 400 pages. Very determined and dedicated work by Savithri.They returned to Hosur on 12th. She showed me the notebook and I was awestruck by the pains and effort taken by Savithri. Remarkable. Visit to Hosur. 03 August 2008 Vijaya and I went to Bangalore from 24 July to 14 August 2008. In between, we decided to go to Hosur also to see Savithri. So, Sunday the 3rd of August, we four (ashok - neeraja) had an early lunch (at 11-45 !!) and we started in Ashok's Maruti Alto car for Hosur. We drove via Jigani Industrial Estate, Bommanasamudra Ind Estate, near Bannarghatta National Park. This road meets Hosur Road after Electronic City. It was a 42 km drive to Hosur. Savithri was waiting for us. She is okay and fine (after her recent hospitalisation in July). She prepared tasty dosais for us. We were all hungry (at least I was) and each one of us ate 3 or 4 dosais. Savithri presented Vijaya a sari. We left Savithri's house by 5-30 PM and dropped Savithri at a nearby temple and proceeded to Bangalore. 75 minutes' drive later we were home by 7-15 PM. Neeraja drove in the return trip. Visit to Hosur 27 July 2007. We went to Bangalore during 25 July to 4 August 2007. In between we went to Hosur to see Savithri. On Friday, 27 July 2007, we two left BLR by 09-30 AM. We took a bus to Hosur from Madiwala. At Hosur we took an auto to Savithri's house. Savithri is fine and busy, as usual. She had prepared lunch for us - keerai, Pudalangai koottu, Kuzhambu, Rasam etc. Evening at 5-30 PM, Savithri took Vijaya for some Sloka function in a neighbour's house. I was reading a Sujata novel in the house. On their return and after dinner, we three were talking till 11.30PM 28 July 2007, Saturday :: Got up at 7 and after just coffee, we left Savithri's house by 8 AM. We were lucky to get a bus immediately and we were in Ashok's house by 9-15 AM our earlier visit on 27 March 2007 here . rajappa 11 AM 29 July 2007

Sri Rama Navami 27-03-2007 SRI RAMNAVAMI, as we all know, is celebrated on Chaitra maasa Sukla paksha Navami thithi. This year it was celebrated on 27th March. The celebrations start on Ugadi day and culminate on the ninth day with Sita Kalyanam. Vijaya and I had the fortune of going to HOSUR this year ( 27 March 2007 ) on this auspicious day of Sri Ramnavami and take part in the celebrations. This blog is all about that. Savithri and about 20 families of the TNHB quarters join together for such celebrations. Every year they celebrate Sri Ramnavami for nine days with devotion, dedication, and bhakti - with Rama nama parayanam, chanting of slokas, singing of bhajans etc. Till last year (2006) they used to celebrate each day's function in a different house daily.This year luckily they had obtained a small place (garage) in one house and thus the celebrations were performed in one single location daily. Visit to Hosur 27 March 2007 We two went to Bangalore during 21 March to 03 April 2007. In between we went to Hosur to see Savithri. 27 March 2007 , Tuesday, was Sri Rama Navami and Neeraja prepared Paanakam. Neermore, and Kosambari. After the poojai, we two left BLR by 08-30AM for Hosur. Sri Rama Navami was being celebrated in a grand and wonderful way at Savithri's locality. Read all about that function here.
