13 Jan 2013 - Sunday - BHOGI

We invited Savithri from Hosur to join us for the festivals. She came here today by 12:30 noon. We performed the Poojai after she came. Then I offered her our Pongal seer.

Evening we five left for Reliance Digital in search of a CD player for Savithri. We did not get one to our liking, so we came back to Meenakshi Mall CROMA shop and purchased a Philips CD player (MP3, MP4, FM radio) USB input also. Ashok purchased a Panasonic Phone. What a huge shop!

14 Jan 2013 - Monday - PONGAL

Neeraja kept the Pongal Paanai at the auspicious time. Then we went to the terrace and performed the Poojai there. Karumbu and Manjal were available at Jayanagar. Ashok performed the Poojai. Neeraja prepared Sakkarai Pongal, Ven Pongal, Vadai etc. We had along discussion with Rama at Hyd re Sashti apthapoorthy for Sathyamurthy. At Chennai also Pongal was nicely celebrated at Padur and Kalakshetra Avenue.

15 Jan 2013 - Tuesday - Kanu Pongal.

Vijaya, Savithri, Neeraja kept Kanu Pongal in the terrace early morning. Arun returned from Chennai by 6 AM and went to office. After lunch and then rest for a while, we two and Savithri left house by 3-15PM for Hosur. Neeraja took us in car and left at the bus stop. We reached Hosur by 4:30PM and Savithri's house by 4:45.

HOSUR

Went for a walk in the evening. Savithri has a lot of new things now, thanks to Ganesh. A new LED TV (Panasonic) and a new Panasonic LL phone instrument, an Induction Cooktop (Prestige).

16 Jan 2013 - Wednesday - HOSUR.

Hot water from Induction Cooktop! We discussed with Krithika at Chennai re the proposed dates for going to V Koil for mudi irakkuthal for Arjun. She says NO to all our dates; now we have to choose fresh dates! Evening we went for a walk-cum-shopping. Later we went to one of our amma-side relatives - Mrs Mythili, daughter of Chidambaram Anna, our Sivagangai periyamma's son. They live very near the house of Savithri. Her husband Mr P. Shankar and her daughter Surya were very cordial. We talked for over 45 minutes and then returned.

17 Jan 2013 - Thursday - HOSUR.

At 09:15 we three left by auto for Pathakota Sri Rama Anchaneya Koil at Pathakota, 15-20 km from house. Built in 1932, this beautiful koil is on the banks of Pennai. Velukkudi Sri Krishnan Swamikal talked about this koil six months ago, showed the temple and the Pennai river flowing. From that moment onwards I had a desire to visit this Ramar Koil and it was fulfilled today - all Rama's arul!

From there we went to a Malai koil - Sri Chandra Chudeswarar with Sri Maragathambal Koil on a hillock. Beautiful koil. Then we returned home.

After lunch and rest, we two left house by 3:15 for Bangalore. At Madiwala, Neeraja came in car and took us home.

19th Jan 2013 - Saturday - Bangalore.

Gayathri, Sowmya, Sriram came to Bangalore in the morning to attend an Entrance exam for Sriram. He was highly successful in the test ! Earlier he did not know to write a- z or 1- 40 but intensive coaching in home by Gayathri made him successful ! They came here in the evening. Earlier Vijaya's friend Mrs Devasundari came with her 4-year-old grand daughter SRIKRUTHI.

20th Jan 2013 - Sunday.

Video call from Arvind. We could see ARJUN and ADITI on our monitor. Arjun recognised us and was very happy. Gayathri, S - S left by 9:30PM for station and Chennai. Arun dropped them in Ashok's car.

21 Jan 2013 - Monday.

Evening walk in the Park.

Kumar-Lalitha Sashti Aptha Poorthy

Kumar celebrated his Sashti Aptha Poorthy (60th birthday) on 03 June 2009 at Annanagar West. Rudra Ekadasi was performed at 05:00 AM; we didn't attend this. Ganesan had come from Mumbai on 2nd June afternoon 1:30 PM and he stayed with us. Ramani came by train on 2nd morning and he stayed with Lalitha at Avadi. On 3rd, we two and Ganesan took ARUN's car with a driver and went to Annanagar by 0815. The rituals were going on already. Indira, Sruthi, Akila, Raja, Aparna, Jyotsna were already there. Later, Saroja, Athimber came. Gayathri, Sowmya, Sriram came with Sudha and her inlaws in a calltaxi. Krithika came with Aditi in their car, with a driver. Arvind took ill suddenly, so he couldn't come. TSG and mami came. The function was a nice one; it was over by 1215 PM. After lunch all of us started leaving. TRVG's daughter's Marriage

TR Venugopal is known to us since 1971 from our Poona days. He is now Senior Accounts officer at DMRL, Hyderabad. He performed the marriage of his daughter JANANI with Natarajan at Nanganallur Chennai on Sunday, 10th July 2011. Vijaya and I attended it. Venugopal on the right, his wife Saraswathi on the left We left house at 6-10 AM in Wagon-R and reached the Rama Mandiram Kalyana Mandapam at Nanganallur by 6-50. The Mandapam is just next to the Anjaneyar Koil. There we met my former colleagues at ERDL Cell, DRDL Hyd. Ganesan, Nair, Jagadeesan, Saibaba, Subba Reddy, Srinivasa Reddy, S Venugopala Murthy, Venkataramaiah, Ramakrishnaiah, Kaleeswaran, Mohan Rao, Rangarajan etc; they had come with their wives. Ganesan and his wife Gomathi with us NAIR (behind Vijaya) his daughter PREETHI (next to Vijaya) Preethi's husband (Airforce, Agra) is also seen. Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram

ANNA CENTENARY LIBARARY (அண்ணா நூற்றாண்டு நூலகம்) is a newly established State Library of Tamilnadu. It was declared open on 15th Sept 2010. Located in Kotturpuram, Chennai. This last Sunday, 1st May 2011, we hit upon the idea - we will go and see this library. No serious reason, but a sudden whiff of fancy. Vijaya, her old classmate and friend Mrs Prema, and I left house at 3-30PM. A bus upto Madhya Kailash, and an auto thereon, left us at the gates of this huge, beautiful building at 4 PM. From the outside, it was immensely impressive and imposing - maybe of 9 or 10 floors, exquisitely constructed. As we walked the lawns to reach the Main Entrance, the interest in us was bubbling. (Caution: Handbags, Cameras are strictly prohibited. Even waterbottles are not allowed inside the halls.) There is a 5-feet bronze statue of Mr CN Annadurai, in whose name and honour this library is built. This is the Tamilnadu Chief minister Mr M Karunanidhi's pet project and he, as usual, has ov
