SAPTHA STHAANA KOILS OF MYLAPORE.
The following seven temples are known as the SEVEN Shiva Koils in Mylapore.
# 1. KARANEESWARAR KOIL
Swami : Sri KARANEESWARAR Amman : PORKODI {SORNA LALITHAMBIKA}
He is the primordial cause of this universe which is His very form. He is also the Lord who can teach us the causality behind all events.
# 2. THEERTHAPALEESWARAR KOIL
AMMAN : TIRIPURA SUNDARI
2nd of the seven koils. Located in Natesan Street - the street opposite to City Center.
# 3. VELLEESWARAR KOIL
SWAMI VELLEESWARAR AMMMAN KAMAKSHI
VELLI is Sukra. So, Velleeswarar is Sukrachariar
Sri Sukracharya worshipped the Lord here and got back the eyesight he lost at the hands of Lord Vamana. You can see the statue form of Sri Sukra worshipping the Lord here in this temple.
Located next to Sri Kapaleeswarar Koil.

It is located in Bazaar road of Mylapore. Bazaar road is just near Mylapore Post Office on the Kutchery road.

Located near (and Opposite to) Karaneeswarar Koil to its north.
5 SRI VALLEESWARAR KOIL
SWAMI VALEESWARAR AMMAN PERIYA NAYAKI
Located opposite to Karaneeswarar Koil
# 6. SRI MALLEESWARAR
SWAMI MALEESWARAR AMMAN MARAGATHAMBAL
Located behind Karaneeswarar Koil. Go ahead of Karaneeswarar koil and turn left,
# 7. SRI KAPALEESWARAR KOIL
The well known koil in Mylapore.

Apart from these five koils on the Bazaar Street, there are a lot of Amman koils and Perumal Koils on this street:
Before you come to SANSKRIT College (from Luz), turn right into Mundaga Kanni Amman Street, cross Buckingham canal, go via Mundaga Kanni Amman Street. You reach this temple.
You can also come via Kutchery road. Turn right from Kutchery road opp the JAIN TEMPLE and you will find tha Amman koil within 250 metres! Visit DRAUPATI AMMAN KOIL also on this way.
On the East of MK Amman koil, there is MADHAVA PERUMAL Koil, and if you go still East, there is VEERA BADHRA SWAMI Koil 200 metres away. On the North of MK Amman Koil, nearly 250 metres away is the VADAGUR SELVA VINAYAGAR KOIL on the Nattu Subbaroyan Street. It is near Malleeswarar koil.
From MK Amman koil, if you travel straight North, you will get the Thiruvalluvar Koil, the only Koil for Thiruvalluvar in the entire Tamilnadu.
At the end of North Mada Veedhi (Mylapore), if you turn left into Mathhala Narayanan Street, you get the large JAIN Temple; turn right into Kutchery Road and after crossing Mylapore Post Office, you turn left into Arundale street. First you see PEYAAZHWAR JANMA STHALAM on your right. Another 100 metres away, on your right again, you get the famous RAYAR MESS.
If you walk another 3/4 km on the Bazaar Street from Malleeswarar koil, at the end of it, you see CHENNAI CITY CENTRE and Radhakrishnan Salai. If you cross Radhakrishnan Salai, you have entered Thiruvallikkeni.
KOLAVIZHI AMMAN KOIL is on the east of Bazaar street, after Paripurana Vinayagar koil, and before Karaneeswarar koil.
