SAVITHRI-2015 (part -1)

SAVITHRI in Chennai 2015 Part 1.

Read the previous experience of 21-04-2008   here

Savithri, our sister, phoned on 31 October 2015 (Saturday) and informed us that she is not well. Her earlier mouth-ulcer is giving her pains. I do not know for how many days. I phoned her back on 2 November - the sore is still paining and she is applying some ointment. On 4th November (Wednesday) I phoned her again and she told that the doctor - Dr SHABBIR - told her to come to Chennai for further consultation / treatment. Perhaps a biopsy ?

Tuesday, the 10th November was the Deepavali festival and Ramesh went to Hosur. Next day on 11th Nov Savithri left Hosur with Ramesh and Vasanth for Chennai. Biopsy was fixed for 16th November (Monday) at the Kauvery Hospital, TTK Road at 0900 .

On 16th, it rained heavily , the roads were flooded. Vijaya and I left house at 09-15 with Arvind in is care. We were dropped at Kauvery Hospital by 9-45. Many tests like ECG, blood, chest X-ray were taken. Ramesh, Viji, and Vasanth were there with Savithri. We returned home with Savithri and Ramesh etc. and had a late lunch. Savithri stayed in our house. Reports were normal as per the results in the evening.

18-11-2015 ( Wednesday) KAUVERI HOSPITAL. We two left house at 10:15 with Ramesh and Karthik. Dr SHABBIR came at 2 PM and started the BIOPSY procedure; it was over by 4 PM !! Heavy bleeding, said the doctor. The biopsy specimen was taken to ANDERSONS LAB at Poonamalee High Road, opp Dasaprakash, by Karthik.  Savithri was kept under observation for 2 hours; later an ECG was also taken. (Total bill today Rs 15800.00). All of us returned home by 9 PM. After meals here, Ramesh and family left. Savithri stayed in our house.

Savithri was with us on 19th also. She was a little better today. Took Complan, kanji. No solid food. Ramesh came in the evening to see his mother.

Savithri left our house on 20-11-2015 Friday by 7-45 PM with Ramesh. Rains continued in Chennai. The biopsy report was received from Andersons Lab on 23-11-2015 Monday. Dr Shabbir has told "everything normal; nothing to worry". We were were greatly relieved to hear this and I informed all in the family. Every one was relieved.

A CT Scan of the mouth is to be taken on 24th Nov. Dr SHABBIR is consulting some other doctors. The doctor Savithri was told to see at Egmore on 26-11-2015 Thursday was irritant and annoying. Ramesh dropped Savithri in our house and she stayed here till 8 PM. The observation that "SUGGESTIVE OF verrucous(?) CARCINOMA" is highly suspicious and dangerous.

On 28-11-2015 (Saturday), Savithri had a CT scan and the report handed over to Dr SHABBIR. Did she have a CT scan .... ??

The biopsy report has been sent to Apollo cancer inst at Nandanam for another opinion. Rains and heavy rains in Chennai, roads flooded,  Savithri left for HOSUR on 6th Dec with Ramesh. Ganesh arrived in Bangalore from US on 7-12-2015.

On 8th Dec, Savithri told that she and Ganesh are coming back to Chennai on 11-12-2015.

Savithri came to Chennai on 11th Dec from Hosur with Ganesh. Consulted the doctor at Kumaran Hospitals, Poonamalee high road, Kilpauk. SAVITHRI HAS NOW BEEN DIAGNOSED AS INVASIVE CARCINOMA. Has also grown more. Immediate Radiation and Chemo to be given for 30 sessions and 6 sessions respectively. To arrest this growth.

WHAT A SHOCK for all of us ! We two wept during the night.   Oh God !!
The radiation to be given at Billroth Hospital, Shenoy nagar, Monday thru Friday, for 6 weeks (total 5 x 6 = 30 sessions), and Chemo therapy on 6 Saturdays. Before Radiations, a mask is to be prepared, and for getting the size and other measurements, Savithri has to go to Billroth on 15-12-2015 Tuesday. And after this she will meet another doctor at Kumaran in the evening.

15-12-2015 Tuesday. We two left by 1100 AM in a taxi for Billroth. Ramesh, Ganesh, Savithri were there. Her measurements were taken, and also a CT scan. Then we proceeded to Kumaran hospital, had to wait for over 2 hours before meeting Dr RAMANAN there. He checked all her reports and records thoroughly for her heart conditions (whether she can withstand the radiation procedures). "YES," he opined finally.

Chemo may start on Friday 18th Dec itself at Kumaran and the radiation from 21st Dec at Billroth.

Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram

ANNA CENTENARY LIBARARY (அண்ணா நூற்றாண்டு நூலகம்) is a newly established State Library of Tamilnadu. It was declared open on 15th Sept 2010. Located in Kotturpuram, Chennai. This last Sunday, 1st May 2011, we hit upon the idea - we will go and see this library. No serious reason, but a sudden whiff of fancy. Vijaya, her old classmate and friend Mrs Prema, and I left house at 3-30PM. A bus upto Madhya Kailash, and an auto thereon, left us at the gates of this huge, beautiful building at 4 PM. From the outside, it was immensely impressive and imposing - maybe of 9 or 10 floors, exquisitely constructed. As we walked the lawns to reach the Main Entrance, the interest in us was bubbling. (Caution: Handbags, Cameras are strictly prohibited. Even waterbottles are not allowed inside the halls.) There is a 5-feet bronze statue of Mr CN Annadurai, in whose name and honour this library is built. This is the Tamilnadu Chief minister Mr M Karunanidhi's pet project and he, as usual, has ov...
