The train reached Secunderabad 3 hours late. Satyamurthy received us and took us home in a taxi. Rama's house is large and good. (Srikanth is the owner). Sridhar and Abhilash had already come.

On 31st Jan, our 44th wedding-day, we celebrated it at RC Puram. Today most of the Delhi-relatives arrived by different flights. Rama and family, Vasu and family, Sridhar and family, Usha and family, Bama and Vaitheesh, Ravi (only) came. Ashok came from Bangalore.

We presented a lamp, a Stotra book, Kumkum and manjal powder to all the 7 daughters/ daughters-in-law, Sathya, Subha and the 10th to Neeraja.  Santosh had arranged breakfast and a tasty Hyderabadi-Biriyani from Paradise hotel. Excellent.

I gave calendars to all of Anna's family. And mint-fresh 10 rs, 20 rs, 50 rs notes for old 500 and 1000 rs.

01-02-2015 SUNDAY was the Nichchaya thaartham. A mami had been arranged for preparing breakfast and lunch. Ramesh and his relatives arrived by 7Am and were lodged in hotel rooms. Breakfast was served to them at the hotel itself but lunch in Ramaa's house GF.

At 5 PM we left for the M.A.P.S. Hall for the Nichchaya thaartham function. Nearly 250 people attended it. It was a grand, gala function. After vaitheeka rites, people started dancing a la Punjabi style. It lasted for more than 90 minutes.

Dinner was in buffet style. Lots of items were there. By the time the function ended it was 10.30 PM. We returned home.

02-02-2015. Many people left for Delhi by different flights.

03-02-2015. Vasu, Raji, Sruthi, and Sathish left by train for Chennai. We went to Kanchanbagh / Mirpet by AC bus. Lunch at Ganesan's house, Mirpet. His daughter Sweta had prepared a tasty biriyani. From there, we went to Kailasam's house at Gayathri Nagar and spent one hour there.

From there, we went to Mrs. Kiran Singh's house at Datu Nagar. Eight teachers had gathered there. Vijaya had a great time with her former colleagues. After snacks, we went to our Labs Qrs where we just drove through. Ganesan drove us to all these places in his car. Very nice of him. He dropped us at Midhani Depot bus stop. We took a bus to Malakpet Station where we had to wait for over an hour. After 1 hour of slow travel, finally we reached Lingampally and Ramaa's house.

04-02-2015 Wednesday. After lunch, we two left Ramaa's house by cab to Sec-bad station. We reached PF 2 with the help of a porter. The train arrived from Hyderabad at 5.15 PM. In the melee to get into the train someone picked my pocket and my Microsoft Lumia 535 (Rs 9200.00 purchased 13 Dec 2014) was GONE !! Arvind arranged for its blocking.

05-02-2015 We reached Chennai by 5-50 AM and took an auto home.

It was a nice trip overall, but for the loss of my mobile phone.

Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram

ANNA CENTENARY LIBARARY (அண்ணா நூற்றாண்டு நூலகம்) is a newly established State Library of Tamilnadu. It was declared open on 15th Sept 2010. Located in Kotturpuram, Chennai. This last Sunday, 1st May 2011, we hit upon the idea - we will go and see this library. No serious reason, but a sudden whiff of fancy. Vijaya, her old classmate and friend Mrs Prema, and I left house at 3-30PM. A bus upto Madhya Kailash, and an auto thereon, left us at the gates of this huge, beautiful building at 4 PM. From the outside, it was immensely impressive and imposing - maybe of 9 or 10 floors, exquisitely constructed. As we walked the lawns to reach the Main Entrance, the interest in us was bubbling. (Caution: Handbags, Cameras are strictly prohibited. Even waterbottles are not allowed inside the halls.) There is a 5-feet bronze statue of Mr CN Annadurai, in whose name and honour this library is built. This is the Tamilnadu Chief minister Mr M Karunanidhi's pet project and he, as usual, has ov...
