New Year 2011 dawned on a bright note for us. This is the second "new-year-celeb" for us at Besantnagar. Savithri was with us on Dec 31st. There was a two-hour kutchery by Krithika at Swami's hall, RK Mutt Road, on 31st. All of us (Savithri) attended it. Ramamurthy athimber also came for the concert. Later in the night, we (except Savithri) went for a dinner outside. Eden was crowded, so we chose Ming's Masala, a Chinese restaurent. This is also nearby our house. We had Naan, stuffed kulcha, Aloo dum. We didn't go to the beach, like we did last year. We slept off at 11 PM. On 1st morning, we two and Savithri went to Varasiddhi Vallabh Vinayakar koil and worshipped the God. Then Savithri boarded 29C for Annanagar. Janani, Pradyun, Ram came to our house in the afternoon. KOMALA'S This is a restaurant that has opened its branch (second in Chennai) in Mylapore recently. Located in Ramakrishna Mutt Road, very near Luz signal (P Orr & Sons complex), this opened a couple of weeks ago. Pleasing and very quiet peaceful ambiance, air-conditioned comfort, very neat interior. Serves pure South and North Indian (and some Chinese also) Vegetarian food. Dosais are the popular items and there are a dozen or more varieties of dosais served here. Tasty also. Cost-wise, could I say "reasonable"? If you would consider a plain dosai for Rs 21.00, a masala dosai at Rs 35.00, a Onion Rava Masala at Rs 35.00, Sambhar / Rasam Vadai at Rs. 28.00, it is "reasonable". Would you? As ardent explorers of Mylapore and its ambiance, I and Vijaya have already visited this eatery twice. Yesterday I had an urge to eat Dahi Vada but unfortunately they hadn't prepared it.
