New Year 2012 dawned on a bright note for us. This is the FIRST  "new-year" for us at our own house Kalakshetra Avenue. Last night, Arvind, Krithika, Aditi, Janani, Ram, Pradyun, Ranjani, Praveen, Sahasra went to Azzuri Bay, a restaurent in Adyar (Gandhinagar). Vijaya and I ate in the house and slept. We had lunch (on 1st Jan) at TSG's house (2nd floor). Vijaya prepared Senaikkizhangu varuval and we shared. Thus, our new year 2012 went off. rajappa 1 Jan 2012

New Year 2011 dawned on a bright note for us. This is the second "new-year-celeb" for us at Besantnagar. Savithri was with us on Dec 31st. There was a two-hour kutchery by Krithika at Swami's hall, RK Mutt Road, on 31st. All of us (Savithri) attended it. Ramamurthy athimber also came for the concert. Later in the night, we (except Savithri) went for a dinner outside. Eden was crowded, so we chose Ming's Masala, a Chinese restaurent. This is also nearby our house. We had Naan, stuffed kulcha, Aloo dum. We didn't go to the beach, like we did last year. We slept off at 11 PM. On 1st morning, we two and Savithri went to Varasiddhi Vallabh Vinayakar koil and worshipped the God. Then Savithri boarded 29C for Annanagar. Janani, Pradyun, Ram came to our house in the afternoon. This year’s (2010) New Year dawned for us at Besant Nagar. Early morning at 6-45 we two went to the temples as usual and got களி as prasadam, today being Thiruvathirai festival. Met Saroja in the temple, as usual. I cut vegetables for the கூட்டு for more than an hour – வாழைக்காய், நாட்டு அவரைக் காய், பட்டை அவரைக்காய், கத்தரிக்காய், பீன்ஸ், பட்டாணி, உருளைக்கிழங்கு, சர்க்கரை வள்ளிக்கிழங்கு, ப்பங்கிழங்கு,சேனைக்கிழங்கு, காரட், மொச்சை, பூசணிக்காய், பரங்கிக்காய், ஊறவைத்த வேர்க்கடலை, கொத்துக்கடலை ஆகியவை போட்டு கூட்டு செய்தோம். Vijaya prepared களி மற்றும் கூட்டு. Lalitha and Kumar came from Avadi, for lunch; they brought Kali and Koottu. After lunch they went to Indira’s house; Vijaya also went. Evening, Ramesh and his family came, unannounced. They spent 4 hours here and had dinner with us and then left by 9 PM. We gave a Tamil book to Lalitha and Ramesh as NY gift. NEW YEAR EVE. On the New Year eve (31 Dec 2009), Vijaya and I went to Mylapore. Collected a NY calendar from Lakshmi Vilas Bank. To Giri traders, and there purchased a lot of books. At the Music Section we saw heaps of the latest DVD of Smt Vishakha Hari – Sri ANDAL THIRUKKALYANAM; we promptly purchased one. Then to Sri Kapaleeswarar Koil, my most favourite koil. Onto South Mada Street, we purchased vegetables for tomorrow’s Thiruvathirai Pandigai. No place like South Mada Veedhi for vegetables – this is my firm view. To Ramakrishna Math Bookshop and purchased two copies of Srimad Bhagavad Gita. One of these is for Padma akka, to whom I am giving as a New Year/Pongal Gift. Back home, Arvind told we are going for dinner to EDEN restaurent. This restaurent is just 4 minutes’ walk from our house!I ate Roti with Dal Tadka; Vijaya had Rumali Roti with Aloo Gobi.
